Nine suspects linked to serious crimes, including extortion, murder, armed robberies, and drug-related activities, were arrested on Tuesday in the eThekwini District.
The arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation by the Operation Vala UMgodi task team, which led officers to a residence in Glenmore, Umbilo.
According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the suspects, aged between 19 and 40, were apprehended after police discovered two pistols, a rifle magazine, 173 rounds of ammunition, and a quantity of drugs during the raid.
“The suspects are believed to be involved in extortion, murder, armed robberies, and drug-related activities in the eThekwini District,” said Colonel Netshiunda.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
