An elderly woman was killed on Wednesday morning in a car accident when she lost control of her vehicle on the M13 Fields Hill.
Paramedics arrived on the scene just after mid-day to find that the vehicle had rolled down an embankment and was resting on its roof.
Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics said their team and firefighters made their way down the embankment to assess the scene.
“As the team got to the vehicle, they found the woman, believed to be in her 60s had sustained major injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do for her. She was declared deceased on the scene. eThekweni fire-fighters and paramedics recovered the lady and used specialised roping systems to bring the patient up the embankment,” said Mr Jamieson.
Traffic was severely affected as SAPS investigated the incident.
