Renowned media personality Kirya Gangiah, said it was significant for South Africans of Indian heritage, a community that has been part of the nation’s tapestry since the 1800s. “The Barbie Diwali doll is more than just a toy—it’s a symbol of pride, heritage, and cultural identity, offering the Indian community, young and old, a sense of acknowledgment and representation,” Ms Gangiah said.
