The Schreiner Gallery at the Tatham Art Gallery has been transformed into a vibrant world of colour with the opening of Dreaming in Rainbows, the first solo exhibition by local artist and Comrades Marathon marketing manager, Delaine Cools.
Unveiled on Sunday, the exhibition is a celebration of Cools’ passion for nature, culture, and self-expression. Known for her vibrant and evocative work, Cools has previously showcased her art on national and international stages, but this marks a special milestone in her artistic journey.
“Being a child of the rainbow nation, I couldn’t have asked for a better theme,” shared Cools. “It represents not only my colourful artworks but also my state of mind as a South African. It’s a celebration of everything about us that is vibrant, diverse, and worth cherishing,” she said.
The exhibition’s theme resonates deeply with South Africa’s spirit, blending Cools’ unique artistic style with her reflections on identity and cultural heritage.
As part of the exhibition, Cools will host a Sip and Paint event on December 21, from 9am to noon, inviting art enthusiasts to explore their creativity in a relaxed setting. The event is free, but space is limited, and it’s essential to book. To reserve a spot email reena.bhoodram@msunduzi.gov.za
