A dog, in Newlands West, returned home with a human skull on Monday morning.
According to One Stop Security, the dog’s owner reported that her pet had gone into a nearby bush and came back with what appeared to be a human skull.
“She then contacted One Stop. Immediately all available units as well as SAPS and forensics were dispatched. Upon further investigation, a very bad odour was found to be emanating from the nearby bush.
“One Stop officers along with SAPS continued to investigate. What appears to be human remains was discovered,” said One Stop Security spokesperson Maveshin Odayar.
“The One Stop armed response team and police officers searched the area and stumbled upon some mangled remains, which appeared to be that of a human. From the appearance of the remains, it seems the deceased could be a male, but police will confirm further. The SAPS Forensic team immediately took over the scene, and investigations are under way.”
KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said police will be investigating the matter.
“Police in Newlands have opened an inquest docket after human remains were found in the bushes in Newlands West. Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” he said.
