Hillcrest High School, in partnership with Feed the Babies, is set to host a special fund-raising event, the Buds of Spring High Tea: A Celebration of Growth, Learning, and Hope, tomorrow, Saturday October 5.
The event aims to support pre-school children in rural KwaZulu-Natal, providing vital resources through the Feed the Babies non-profit organisation.
The high tea, organised by Hillcrest High School’s Representative Council of Learners (RCL), promises an engaging morning of entertainment and inspiration.
Award-winning fashion designer Karen Monk-Klijnstra will be the guest speaker. Throwing her support behind the event, she said that Buds of Spring was not just a fund-raiser, but a celebration of potential and new beginnings for the region’s children.
In addition, Monk-Klijnstra will unveil her latest collection, which will be showcased at the Durban Fashion Fair and modelled by Hillcrest High School’s Drama pupils.
Adding to the excitement, renowned local entertainer and musical director Shelly McLean, along with strength coach Chris Strover, will also be featured speakers. The Hillcrest High School and Gospel Choirs, as well as the Steel Drum and Marimba bands, will perform throughout the event, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere.
Guests can expect a delightful selection of eats, an auction, and a variety of artisanal vendors. The event will also reward creativity with prizes for the Best Dressed and Most Original Interpretation of the Buds of Spring theme.
The Buds of Spring High Tea will be held in the Hillcrest High School hall, from 9.30am to noon. Tickets are priced at R250 per person or R2 500 for a table of 10. All proceeds will go towards creating a brighter future for the babies and children supported by Feed the Babies.
