Award-winning South African comedian Dalin Oliver is back on home soil after a six-country, 13-city comedy tour across Europe and the UK.
He will perform his latest one-man show, 90 Day Comedian, at Dropkick Murphy’s at 219 Florida Road, Musgrave, tomorrow, Saturday October 12, at 7.30pm.
Audiences can expect a 75-minute comedic journey that dives into themes of identity, cultural politics, and the pride of being South African in a world that often overlooks the nation’s rich diversity and history.
“I love everything about South Africa — the people, the energy, the vibe,” says Oliver.
Reflecting on the show’s origins, Oliver explains, “The creative process started in 2023 during a two-month stint in Australia. At the time, I only had a title, inspired by my 90-day work visa. Those months exposed me to new cultures and taught me how different audiences respond to comedy.”
Oliver’s travels have shaped 90 Day Comedian into a show that celebrates South Africans. “Travelling has made me appreciate how special we are. The world needs more South Africans to teach them how to be ‘lekker’.“
For Oliver, 90 Day Comedian represents a coming-of-age as a performer. “Before last year, my international experience was limited to Namibia and Canada. This tour pushed me to grow both on and off the stage. It’s been a remarkable journey.”
Recalling his European tour, Oliver shares, “It was a dream come true, and having my wife by my side made it even more special. The warm reception from audiences abroad was amazing, and being an ambassador for South Africa on such a stage was mind-blowing.”
Tickets for the show at Dropkick Murphy’s cost R150 through Webtickets.
